Breaking News: Critical Massive 2008! Location! Dates!

Ignition Northwest and your Critical Massive Production team is thrilled to announce the location and dates of this year's Northwest Regional Spectravaganza, Critical Massive.

This year, through the ever diligent efforts of the Producers, we have secured a gorgeous location. Nestled in the Metheow Valley, four hours East/Northeast on a truly stunning piece of private property known as Skalitude. Seriously, this place is a little slice of heaven. It all goes down June 2-8, (yes, it's a little earlier this year but we've got people who can talk to people about this).

Stay tuned for continuing announcements regarding logistics, site details, art grants and much more.

Mark your calendars, program your blackberry, tattoo the date on your forehead (remember to get this done backwards so that you will be able to read it in the mirror), but whatever you do...don't miss out on the grandest Critical Massive yet.

You do realize that you're going to lose all of those in college, don't you? This would be the week of or the week before finals.

My wife and I won't be able to make it. She works at UW, and I had to request my vacation for the year. I picked the last two weeks in June.

yeah - the change of the event date for this year is unfortunate. Getting locations that will work for the event though has been getting harder and harder every year. If CM08 goes off well, we may have the opportunity to solidify this event location for SEVERAL years (instead of just a year-by-year cross your fingers and hope it's available again cycle).

If we sign a multi-year agreement, we will hopefully then have much more flexibility on the dates and can go back to our traditional week - or even poll the community and find out what works best for the most involved.

From the little I can see in the pictures, it looks like a great site. I only have two questions about it:

        1) From the pictures, it looks like the main area is going to be a field with fairly tall, dry grass. Is that the case? Will the area be cut back to lessen/eliminate the fire hazard?

        2) One of the things I really liked about LARC in particular was that there was an assortment of different pockets for camps to settle in. It made the space into a bunch of little neighborhoods. This was a huge benefit, IMHO, over Lake Bronsen. I didn't get to CM this last year so I don't have an idea of how that space worked out. Is there going to be this sort of opportunity at the new site?

I'm really looking forwards to getting involved in CM this year.
